New version of the Wireless USB adapter available....

I just found out a new version of the wireless USB adapter is available from Cables Unlimited, which would explain why availability of the old one had been drying up. The updated information came from a readers blog that built one using the newer trulink device, thanks Justin.

The build should be the same, the packaging of this unit is more elegant then the previous, and it has external antennas which could be useful. It will however still require an external power pack. Also the price seems to be a bit higher.

  1. Really interesting !!!
Can you get the liveview using your solution ?
Actually we only find dock version of the Cable Unlimited dongle. The kit is no more avaible. Is the a difference between the PC Dongle on the one connected on the DSLR ?

  2. Will this kit work with a MacBook? I want to use it to do wireless tethering, with a D700 and a D300 and I can't afford to pay the WT-4 price, being an amateur. But unfortunately, I no longer have Windoze PCs.

  3. OK, I got this kit. First tests though indicate that a camera is NOT recognized by the USB adapter. More tests will follow to verify this though.

  5. Sorry Andre, this will not work with your iPad as there are no drivers for it. The only way you could get images straight into your ipad would be by having a PC that received the images then sent them to the ipad. Kind of kludgy but it would be the only way I can think of.

  8. This is fantastic! Using this are you able to see the image on the back of the camera (D700) while tethering?

  9. I noticed the software for the recommended wireless USB device requires Windows. Is there a way to adapt this for Mac's?

  10. Short term solution is to load Parallels (or maybe Sun's Virtual Box or maybe VMWare) and then load Windows. Then, you should be good to go. Then, once they come out with MAC support, just load that instead.
