Petebay Deal alert!

Hey there,
For the experimenters and Tether fans, here's a great chance to some neglected (NOT WORKING) pocket wizards for cheap!  I bought some on ebay and they should be here soon.  We'll see how many of the 5 pair I got I can resurrect. (New note:  I got mine and have 3 working so far, the rest will require more work)  At $40 shipped for a Receiver and Transmitter it might be worth the gamble.  Heck, if you can fix one you'll be ahead and you can use the other case to house your PeteTether!  I'll be trying to integrate the tether inside a working transmitter myself.  I could probably build a few and market them!  Pocket Wizard, good....   WUSB tether..   Good... All in one case that fits on the hot shoe...  Great!

I did test my own pocket wizards with the Tether against the back of the Pocket wizard transmitter to see if it caused any interference with the WUSB.  I noticed no interference at all.  Which is a good thing since a lot of people might be using both simultaneously.

Anyway, they have a bunch of them, so have it guys!  (I have no affiliation with the seller, just saw the deal and thought I'd pass it on)

Talk to ya ltrz...

  1. So, are you integrating the usb solution into a PW to gain range?

  2. No, 2 for 1. A lot of Strobists like the PWs for their off camera flash. Since its big and sitting up there anyway, I might as well put the Wireless USB inside the Pw. Then I'll have both to use as needed. I will lose the use of the pop-up, but I have the current version I could put in a pouch on the strap, or I could even put the PW on the strap. The most ideal solution for me is the MB-D10, as its a great addition to the D300 and I don't sacrifice anything on the outside. The thing is however, this doesn't work for the D2/D3 crowd as they have no grip with spare room. So the PW integration would be a better solution for them...

  3. What did it take to fix the PW you picked up?

  4. Yeah, I'll second Matthew's question. Was it hard/difficult to get these working?

  5. Well the first 3 were easy, Just cleaning up corrosion and checking traces. The others have either blown microcontrollers or the clock circuit is dead on them. I'm hoping its the latter but we'll see once I have time to mess with them.

  6. They don't ship to Canada. Pity. Congrats on getting the three going and if anyone can rescue the others I have no doubt it would be yourself!

  9. Pete, I know this is a old, but I really want to find out did you fix the other 2 PW? I just ordered 2 sets(2 transmitters and 2 receivers), they said they all have corrosion problem, so I will try to fix them too. Thanks!
